ASBS Foundation Announces the Recipient of the
2007 Outstanding Achievement Award
Gainesville, Fla. The American Society for Bariatric Surgery (ASBS) Foundation is proud to announce the recipient of the 2007 Outstanding Achievement Award: Walter J. Pories, MD, FACS.
This annual award honors an ASBS member with the highest ideals who has made significant contributions to the field of bariatric surgery. Dr. Pories vision, insight and intellect makes him eminently qualified to receive this award.
Dr. Pories serves as Chairman, Board of Directors of the Surgical Review Corporation (SRC) and is a member of the SRC’s Executive Committee. Dr. Pories is an experienced bariatric surgeon who serves as Professor and Chief of the Metabolic Institute at East Carolina University (ECU). He is also the Principal Investigator of the NIH-funded ECU National Center for the Longitudinal Assessment of Bariatric Surgery. Dr. Pories has served as President of the American Society for Bariatric Surgery and President of the North Carolina Medical Board.
The award ceremony will take place at the annual ASBS Foundation Event on Wednesday, June 13th during the 24th ASBS Annual Meeting in San Diego, California. The ASBS Foundation holds this annual event as an important fundraiser.
This year’s event will be a casino themed evening full of fun, live musical entertainment, camaraderie and congratulations. The event will be attended by leaders in the field of bariatric surgery, allied health professionals, Walk from Obesity volunteers and corporate supporters.
