ASBS Foundation Hosts Successful Walk from Obesity
in Cities Across the United States

Gainesville, Fla.The ASBS Foundation is proud to announce the great success of the 2006 Walk from Obesity.

This past September and October, in 68 cities throughout the United States, all those affected by obesity, healthcare professionals and many more from the obesity community gathered to show their support for the fight against obesity.

This year’s event generated more than 4,100 participants nationwide and raised more than $465,000 for obesity research to help improve the quality of life of all those affected by this disease. Participants proudly walked courses hosted by event leaders in their communities.

“The ASBS Foundation would like to thank all those who participated and volunteered their time for this year’s Walk from Obesity. We are very proud and honored to have such dedicated individuals throughout the obesity community to help raise awareness of this disease, continue research for treatment and eliminate the negative stigma associated with it. We look forward to seeing all of you for the 2007 Walk from Obesity,” said Joseph Nadglowski, Jr., ASBS Foundation Executive Director.

The ASBS Foundation would also like to give a special thanks to all the 2006 Walk from Obesity sponsors. They are as follows: Autosuture Bariatrics, Ethicon Endo-Surgery, Bariatric Advantage, INAMED Health, KCI, Tri-City Regional Medical Center, ON-Q PainBuster and Olympus Surgical America.

Funds raised through this event will support the ASBS Foundation in their efforts to increase research funding for morbid obesity, improve awareness of the negative stigma associated with obesity and provide educational information for all those affected by this disease.

The ASBS Foundation's “
Walk from Obesity” was established to give hope to those needing it most. Walkers raise money by asking friends, family, and co-workers to sponsor them. In addition to walker income, funds are raised through sponsorship, matching gifts, corporate contributions and other fundraising activities.
